The Challenge
Hoyts EntX Christchurch is a large-scale entertainment and cinema complex — one of Christchurch’s landmark post-earthquake developments. For a venue of this size and footfall, understanding how visitors move through the space is essential for both operational planning and safety management. The project, led by Calder Stewart on behalf of the HOYTS Group, required a sophisticated people counting solution that could deliver accurate, real-time occupancy data across the complex and integrate seamlessly with a centralised management platform.
The Solution
Teltrac installed a Hikvision People Counting Solution throughout the Hoyts EntX Christchurch complex, fully integrated into the Hikvision HikCentral Management software platform. The solution gives venue operators accurate, real-time visibility of visitor numbers and movement patterns across the site — all managed through a single, centralised interface.

Installation
Completed in June 2019, Teltrac installed the Hikvision People Counting Solution across the Hoyts EntX complex in close collaboration with Calder Stewart’s project team. All cameras were positioned, configured, and integrated with the HikCentral platform, with the system fully tested and commissioned before handover to the HOYTS Group operations team.
Outcome
Hoyts EntX Christchurch now has accurate, real-time visibility of visitor numbers and movement throughout the complex — insight that supports better operational decisions, more efficient staffing, and improved safety management across the venue.
