The Challenge
ANZ’s flagship Queen Street branch featured an existing LED ticker that had reached end of life — spare parts were no longer available, and the display was failing. The branch needed a replacement that would not only restore functionality but significantly raise the bar: a high-resolution, continuous 16.5-metre LED ticker integrated into the internal façade of one of Auckland’s most prominent CBD banking locations, visible to passersby through the branch’s street-facing glass.
Key Project Challenges
- Integrating a continuous 16.5-metre LED ticker within an existing internal façade with tight architectural recesses
- Achieving fine pixel detail sharp enough for close-up viewing by external passersby through glass
- Maintaining rear service access within the architectural recess without compromising the installation
- Ensuring long-term brightness uniformity and stable performance in a 24/7 corporate banking environment
The Solution
Teltrac began with a full survey of the existing installation to assess whether any hardware could be reused. Following that assessment, the decision was made in consultation with ANZ to replace all existing cabinets with new. Teltrac partnered with Westan NZ for supply and selected the Aurora LDC500-2.6 WPR indoor fine-pitch LED cabinet — a lightweight, modular system built for professional indoor applications, backed by onsite warranty and local support from Aurora Signage.
Why the Aurora LDC500-2.6 WPR
| Feature | Advantage |
|---|---|
| Fine 2.6 mm Pixel Pitch | Crystal-clear text, tickers, and graphics even at short viewing distances from outside the branch |
| Die-cast Aluminium Cabinet | Perfect alignment and structural rigidity across a long, continuous 16.5 m run |
| High Refresh Rate (3840 Hz) | Eliminates flicker and supports smooth motion for financial and dynamic content |
| 4500 nits Brightness | Vivid, high-contrast performance under bright indoor ambient light |
| Rear Access Design | Easy servicing from behind the façade — ideal for fixed architectural integration |
| Lightweight 7.5 kg Cabinets | Simplified installation with reduced structural load |
| 16-bit Colour Depth | Lifelike gradients and accurate corporate branding reproduction |
All 33 Aurora cabinets were precision-calibrated for colour and brightness uniformity prior to delivery. The system is powered by a ColorLight X8E processor, enabling full synchronisation, smooth playback, and consistent brightness control across the entire 16.5 m span.
Why This Solution
- The Aurora LDC500-2.6 WPR’s 2.6 mm pixel pitch delivers the fine image resolution required for a display viewed through glass at street level — standard pitch LED would appear coarse at this distance
- The rear-access cabinet design was essential given the tight architectural recess — it allows technicians to service individual modules without removing the entire installation from the façade
- At 7.5 kg per cabinet, the lightweight aluminium construction made it feasible to install 33 cabinets in a single overnight shift without structural reinforcement works
- The ColorLight X8E processor ensures perfect synchronisation across all 33 cabinets — eliminating any visible seams or brightness variation across the full 16.5 m length
- Local onsite warranty and support from Aurora Signage and Westan NZ means ANZ has long-term coverage without relying on overseas service response times
- Cataloguing spare modules and power supplies locally ensures fast resolution of any future hardware issues without lead-time delays
Installation
The installation was executed overnight in May 2025, ensuring zero disruption to ANZ’s trading hours. The Teltrac team completed the full scope in a single shift:
- Removal of all existing LED ticker cabinets
- Full structural mounting and alignment using Aurora’s precision trim kit
- Power and data integration throughout the 16.5 m run
- ColorLight X8E processor configuration and full screen calibration
- QA inspection and client sign-off before branch opening
- Spare modules and power supplies catalogued and retained locally for ongoing support
Outcome
The completed ticker has become a signature digital feature of ANZ’s Queen Street flagship branch. Visible from the street through glass, the 16.5-metre display delivers vibrant, high-definition motion graphics with flawless pixel alignment across its entire length. Operational 24/7, it runs with low noise and minimal heat output — well suited to the demands of a continuous corporate banking environment.
- Vibrant, high-definition motion graphics visible from the street through the branch’s glass façade
- Flawless pixel alignment across the entire 16.5 m length with no visible seams or brightness variation
- Low operational noise and minimal heat output for a comfortable in-branch environment
- Stable 24/7 performance suitable for financial and corporate content delivery
The project highlights Teltrac’s ability to combine architectural sensitivity with technical precision — demonstrating how fine-pitch LED can transform a flagship commercial space while meeting the exacting standards of one of New Zealand’s leading banks.
